Tuesday 2nd June 2020, almost 9.30. With Harry. 20 miles. Weather light cloud, then very warm again.

The call of a male cuckoo accompanied us all the way from the Welland to Church Gap in Gretton.

The route, showing a little confusion in Great Easton... next time we'll go the extra mile to somewhere different!

A circuit of the village to check on the tadpoles and the mileage was almost exactly 20 miles. A bowl of cold water for the feet, and a large cup of tea rounded off a splendid day out.

I've done a fair bit of walking in December and January, but haven't recorded them all, so here we go - again!

Monday 10 December

A ten miles walk from Market Harborough to Foxton Locks and back with Norma, Maureen and Kate. The same route as the one we did on December 06. 

Wednesday 12 December

Four miles around Fineshade Woods with Marta.

Thursday 13 December
Walk from East Carlton to Neville Holt, via Drayton. With Maureen and Eddie. Just over 8 miles, and the last muddy stretch uphill was a killer!

Monday 17 December
a superb day. Bright cold weather. Eddie and I walked from Gretton, to Harringworth Lodge, down to Shotley and Harrinworth, across the valley and under the viaduct to Seaton, then to Lyddington and Gretton. 11.5 miles in all. Quite a workout.

Great Easton, Neville Holt, Drayton, Bringhurst.

Monday 13 March 2017. With Norma, Maureen, Tommy and Ken.  Just under six miles. Great sunny weather, with a little mud underfoot on occasions.

Similar route to last Saturday, and also this walk from March 2014.  we began from the green, near the pub, and walked along Brook Street and Deepdale to pick up the footpath towards Nevill Holt.

 We took the path which  leads very close to the buildings of Nevill Holt, with the statue of the opera singer, Bryn Terfel . . .

 and this horse's head.

 The path takes us out on to the road to Drayton, and we walk downhill for some distance, watching a few cyclists making their way upwards.

 Break time at the bench with a view.

 Down into Drayton, past a garden gate decorated with a metalwork spider - there are smaller versions near the wall behind it.

 Then straight through the village and the tiny church building on the green. We take the path towards Bringhurst, and turn to climb the hill to the village.

At the road junction we turn right, and soon take the footpath on our left, labelled "Great Easton".

Saturday 11th March with Harry

The walk follows the same route as this one from 2014. We did a recce walk for Monday. The weather was dry, but very grey, with some mist.
Some paths were quite muddy.  Distance - around 6 miles.
