Tuesday 4th June
With Marta to Stamford - parked at Burghley and walked in via Lion Bridge and gatehouse, and around the meadows into town to Cafe Black, where we stopped for coffee and a teacake. A few drops of rain, but not a lot.
We walked back over the town bridge and by the Welland. The swans were around but quite distant from both bridges.
We decided to explore the muddy woodland track just by the entrance to Burghley Park, and ended up blocked by a fence and no access sign. We were able to reach the road by the gates to the Horse Trials Office, so walked the last mile or so along the foot way to the ‘visitors’ entrance.
As we reached the car the rain began in earnest.
5 and a 1/2 miles today.
