Saturday 18th May
A glorious morning. We’re goiing to miss the early morning loveliness from the window. All packed up and off just after 10.

We had a coffee stop in the cafe at Threave Gardens, a Scottish National Trust place near Castle Douglas.

Then we continued to Lanercost Priory for lunch, and a nap in the car!
We arrived at Mount Pleasant about 4.30, Pretty tired still!
Sunday 19th May
We decided to have a chill out day after the drive yesterday. A grey, somewhat chilly start to the day- contrast to yesterday.
Gentle start, and some drawing - then we made our way (by car) to the Stoneygate Farm shop and Cafe, just down the road. Decent coffee and a small Bakewell tart.
We booked a meal in Richmond at the Royal Indian restaurant where we ate chicken biryani. Excellent meal and not hugely expensive.
Monday 20th May
We drove into Richmond which was rather full of moderately well off retired people shopping as a social activity.
We had a somewhat feeble coffee, with teacake and a piece of house chocolate in “Mocha”. We walked into the Friary gardens, a very pleasant small park.

We walked back into the town centre, crossing the lovely bridge over the Swale, and visited the Castle - great views from the keep, and the cockpit garden was nice - we used the English Heritage membership again, so nothing lost on a shortish visit.
Then we changed our parking spot to Richmond station, which is now a community cultural venue with cinemas, a cafe, a gallery and various activities etc.
Back to the Friary park to draw a while, then back to the Station for a cup of tea and shared a piece of fruit cake.
We’ve walked just over 4 miles today, and climbed plenty of steps and stairs!
And the weather turns beautiful, but chilly at about 8pm. The moon is almost full.
