Walks in the Black Forest - 1. Gremmelsbach

1. Tuesday 09 July - Gremmelsbach village

We had driven from Freiburg and arrived at the apartment in the afternoon.  It was close to the main road through the valley - not too busy, and very quiet at night. It was also large, well equipped and with a very helpful landlady.

The village of Gremmelsbach was up a steep road, climbing 400 feet in about a mile. The brook itself ran alongside, and there were some very picturesque houses.
The wild flowers were stunning -

Close to the village centre we noticed lots of footpath signs, colour coded.
In the village was a noticeboard with a map of circular walks, many starting from the centre.

and basic details of walks too.

One evening there was a brass band practice in the school/village hall - another evening it was choir practice.
