We followed the same route as on Saturday 19 November 2016, with one difference. Half way through instead of going down to the road we climbed Hen Cloud instead.
Anroach Farm |
Gib Tor |
Water Avens |
On the way we saw and heard a stonechat, a chiffchaff, lapwings, and several green hairstreak butterflies. A cuckoo or two were vocal all day.

A lovely record of your walk in the Peaks.
We have been lucky with the weather both times we have been there recently!
Some very imposing rock formations and standing stones up there! Beautiful day too.
A wonderful place, just off the Leek to Buxton Road. Well worth a visit if you get the chance.
Wonderful. We're staying at anroach farm in aug. Would love to do this walk. Don't suppose you have the gpx available for the route do you?
Unfortunately not, but you should be able to work it out from an OS map. You could check the link to the other post too for more details. We weresupposed to be up there in late March, but, alas...Hope you have a great time there.
Thank you so much. Sorry you missed your trip. Hope you can reschedule x
We shall at some point. I hope you have enjoyed/ do enjoy the Roches area!
