A word of warning. The walk descriptions are not detailed enough to guide you - please take a map. The batteries never run out, and you always have a signal. Oh, And don't take left or right as gospel!

By bike to Fineshade from Gretton. Cuckoo!

With Harry. Sunday 09 June 2019.
This has become a familiar local route - from Gretton via Harringworth and Wakerley, pause for a drink, and return via Kings Cliffe, Blatherwycke, Bulwick and Deene. Good weather, not too hot, not windy. A pleasant hiatus day between two spells of rain.
Black swans at Blatherwycke, along with a heron and a family of geese. Just outside the village there are llamas in a field.

We heard a cuckoo, for the second time this year.
Roughly 18 miles.

A short coastal walk from Morston Quay to Stiffkey

Thursday 30 May. With Harry, Dan, Sara, Isaac, Rose and Allan, whose ages range from 9 to 85. Altogether about 3 miles. Wide sea- and marshscapes to our right, plenty of seabirds, a distant view of seals on Blakeney Point, and reminders of previous visits.

We simply followed the coastal path west from the NT car park at Morston Quay, and walked to the campsite at Stiffkey (Stewkey), where Dan and Sara and family were staying. A delicious picnic lunch before we set off, bought in Cley, where we heard our first and so far only cuckoo this year.

In the evening a barbecue. We also had the chance to try out Sara's magic battery assisted bicycle - that was fun!
Sunset shot through car window on the way home.
We left just before 8pm and were back before 10pm - a much easier drive than the outward journey in the morning.
